Through original songs, stories and audience interaction, this Parents Choice Award winner takes his audience on an exciting journey back through his childhood sharing the daily joys, dreams and blunders that today’s kids can relate to, laugh at, and understand. Children will get the chance to decide what kinds of choices they would make if they were in Lou’s shoes and how those choices reflect on their own lives. The entire assembly is strung together with a cool rap tune that tells students to “Make a Good Choice!”… and what's more, this unique program can touch upon any Character Ed themes that your school or community want to stress and will work them in to the program!

“The 'Make a Good Choice Program' is a great way to support Character Education as it not only helps teach children about universally recognized and accepted human values such as respect and kindness, but also engenders their commitment to these values;thereby, enabling them to truly "walk the talk of good character.”

“Make a Good Choice!” Workshop
Lou models his own childhood stories and through them gives students tools they can use to make good choices in their own lives. Based on Thomas Lickona’s principles of moral decision making, Lou has created a formula that asks 3 simple questions: “What do you know? What do you feel? What do you do?” Lou makes this simple formula come alive for students, allowing them to:
  • Express feelings and ideas through discussion and writing activities
  • See through others’ eyes (Perspective Taking)
  • Engage in Improvisation and role playing

By the end of the workshop, teachers and students will put this formula in to practice and try to make better choices then before. This workshop works in conjunction with the “Make a Good Choice!” assembly program or on its own.

A 50 minute workshop. Adapted for grades 1-6. Study Guides Available.
